"Help! I want to restore my foreskin, but I have no idea where to start!"
You may have either stumbled onto the subject of foreskin restoration, or heard about it in a newspaper articles or maybe TV documentary. However you came across the subject, you have taken the first step towards educating yourself on this non-surgical process, and hopefully make the decision to start your own restoration process after you learn of the many benefits of "restoring".
But the question remains - "where do I start?" The main page of this site explains the principle behind the non-surgical foreskin restoration process, so be sure to review that first. If you have decided to start your own restoration, you should first ask yourself these questions:
Do I have the emotional fortitude to stick with this long-term process? (Could be months - or years)
Do I have the personal motivation to consistently wear my chosen restoration device?
Will my wife or partner be supportive of my restoration efforts?
What are my goals I hope to achieve from restoring? (ie. how much new skin do I want to grow?)
What method will you chose to use? (check the link directory for a "method comparison chart")
After you've answered these questions, and chosen a method for restoration, the "fun" begins. If you were tightly circumcised your best method of restoration - at least for the first few months to develop some slack skin - would be the " T-Tape Method with Tension Strap " (again see "specific methods of restoration" section in the directory for very clear T-Tape instructions)
First you must locate your Point of Equilibrium on your penis (see main page for link on this)
Begin following the instructions for the method of restoration you have chosen and apply the instruction methods.
Follow through with your chosen restoring method consistently (aim for as close to 24hr/7days as possible!) for at least a few weeks to see how you adjust to using that particular method. Many men report that after the first few weeks of restoring, the restoration device they were becomes second nature and causes only minimal inconvenience and time consumption.
Begin keeping a diary (download a free one here) and if possible, use a web cam or digicam to take photos of your penis flaccid while sitting and standing, and erect while sitting and standing. DATE the photos. Take these photos every week or two. THEY WILL SERVE TO INSPIRE YOUR CONTINUED RESTORATION! Refer back to the older photos often, to see the amazing changes restoring should be giving you.
Connect yourself to the Restoration community. Plug yourself into the mailing lists and participate in forums. You may feel strange about sharing such personal information about your penis, but you need only reveal as much personal information as you like while participating in public forums and discussions.
When you feel discouraged about your progress, or depressed about the whole thing, get online and chat with other restoring men, you'll often get a real shot-in the arm of motivation from another guy going through the same thing you are going through! You don't have to go it alone!!!
At some point you really should discuss your restoration efforts with your Doctor. More and more doctors are becoming aware of non-surgical foreskin restoration and your doctor may well be able to offer your advice or assurances that no damage is being done.
Read. Read. Read. Read all you can about foreskin restoration, and all the various known methods, both commercial and home-made. Something new is always coming up, and new tips and tricks are always being divulged in forums and mailing lists. Keep up to date! While the principles of restoration pretty much remain the same, methodologies and current thinking often changes.
And a restorer's Mantra? "KEEP ON TUGGIN (KOT!)" and "KEEP THE FAITH!"
